Before We Leave 2024…The Top 5 Posts from Last Year
Wow! Can you believe we’re in 2025? Me neither! Happy New Year!
Before we go too far – let’s look into the way back machine and see what the most pop-u-lar (I’m singing that tune from Wicked) posts were from last year.
Here’s a caveat (and yes, I’m using fancy foreign words straight away):
One of the top posts was Your 2024 Stewardship Calendar. I will be posting Your 2025 Stewardship Calendar next week, so I won’t include it in this Top Five list…stay tuned for Wednesday!

3 Things to Do with the Giving USA Report 2024
Two of my three suggestions are quite relevant as you begin thinking about your 2025 generosity plan:
1. Increase information about legacy giving and
2. Start planning your generosity outreach now.

One Way to Increase Giving this Summer
This was all about increasing recurring giving…via an excellent example from my friend Rev. Steve Lindsley in Charlotte, NC. He’s done the hard work for you – how can you replicate what he did?

The Power of Prayer
This was a very personal post after a tough diagnosis. I appreciated hearing from many of you who also know how prayer – in all the ways it manifests itself – makes a difference. I’m sending you a heart emoji.
We’re getting close…at #2:
The Finance Committee: Embedded in the Spirit
The Finance Committee? Embedded in the Spirit? You bet. Here’s the key takeaway:
What would it take for your Finance Committee to set aside one meeting (or an hour) to begin the conversation about what it means to be the Finance Committee in a place that follows the teachings and principles of Jesus?
And drumroll, please…
The #1 post from 2024:
The Finance Committee Part 3: Where are your files?
Who knew there would be so much interest in the Finance Committee? Or where the files are kept? The point is: don’t find yourself in a baaaaad (“Wicked” anyone?) situation because no one knows who knows what. This post gives you some Best Practices to follow. Now.
Folks, that’s a wrap on 2024. It was a year, wasn’t it? Of that, we are certain.
But I have this idea that in 2025 you will soar to new heights. You will indeed be defying gravity. And your congregation and the work of Christ will be the better for it.
Happy New Year!
